Boys/Girls U10- Coach Paul Gannon
Paul is a 1976 graduate of SUNY
Cortland where he received his BS in Public Health Administration. While
there, he competed for the varsity soccer program & was selected as team
co-captain his senior year. He received his MS degree in Recreation
Administration, also from SUNY Cortland, while at the same time filling the
graduate assistant soccer coaching position. Immediately upon graduation,
Paul was hired as the full time men’s assistant soccer coach at the United States Military Academy,
West Point, a position he held for
approximately 17 years. Along the way he received his USSF “C” license,
NSCAA National & Advanced National coaching diplomas. After leaving
the men’s program, Paul accepted a full teaching position within the Department
of Physical Education, also at U.S.M.A. To keep his hand in collegiate
coaching, Paul accepted the volunteer assistant women’s soccer coaching position
for 3 years. In all, Paul is currently in his 27th year of
service as coach, instructor/coach, and instructor at the Military Academy.
Outside the Academy, Paul has coached the girl’s Eastern NYS Olympic
Development girl’s soccer program, the Empire State Games women’s open soccer,
the Newburgh Free Academy
girl’s varsity soccer, and has an untold amount of clinic/camp experience.
He has also presented various soccer topics at several NYS-AHPERD
conventions, and Eastern District Association-AAHPERD conventions. This
is his second year coaching within the East Hudson
Youth Soccer
Academy program.
GU11 - Coach Andrea Humphreys
Andrea
began playing competitive soccer at a young age, and continued all throughout
her school years. She was captain of her
varsity team at Clarkstown HS North.
Andrea went on to play for four years on the women’s team at the University of Scranton, NCAA div. III (MAC
champs). After college, she returned to
Clarkstown HS as the girls JV soccer coach for several years. Presently, Andrea is the girls’ JV soccer
coach at John Jay HS, in East Fishkill, and is
also the girls’ modified coach at Van Wyck JHS.
Additionally, she is the coach of an EHYSL BU16 premier level team. Andrea holds an NSCAA National Diploma, a
USSF License, and NYSPHSAA certification.
She is a middle school teacher in the Wappingers School District. Andrea and her husband have four children,
who have played soccer for various EHYSL teams.
Coach Andrea
believes in developing the whole player, and strives to prepare young athletes
physically and mentally to compete in the game she loves! Andrea aims to help players improve their
technical abilities, while also increasing their overall fitness level. She believes it is important for players to
develop confidence in themselves, and to recognize their contributions to their
team. Yet above all, Andrea believes it
is critical to always exhibit good sportsmanship! This is Coach Andrea’s 2nd
year with the East
Hudson Academy
program.
GU11 –Coach Mary Darcy Schanz
Mary
grew up playing soccer in the East Hudson Youth Soccer League. She began in Beacon’s intramural program,
moved on to the Town of Poughkeepsie
Soccer Club’s travel program, along with playing in
the East Hudson Select program as a teenager. Mary and her friends helped
establish the Our Lady of Lourdes HS soccer program during her senior year. She
captained the team, received MVP honors and a Scholastic Athlete award. She
went on to play four years at LeMoyne
College, NCAA Div. II,
co-captaining her senior year.
Presently a 3rd year
Academy coach and a GU12
travel coach, Mary has coached at the intramural and travel levels in LaGrange,
Shrub Oak and Wappingers
Falls. She has worked as a coach and counselor at
area soccer camps/clinics since she was in high school. She co-chairs the Goals
for Hope Women’s Soccer Tournament to raise support, awareness, and money for
the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.
Coach Mary feels it is important for young soccer players to develop their
technical skills so that they become confident team players, while enjoying the
camaraderie and passion of being part of a team. She and her husband have three children
currently playing in the EHYSL, with a son playing for the Academy. Mary holds an NSCAA National Diploma.
Boys U11 – Coach Jim Purdy
Jim has been coaching youth soccer in the area for over
twenty years and is in
his tenth year as a member of the East Hudson Academy/League
Select coaching staff. He has coached both boys and girls teams in the Academy
program. Jim has coached league travel teams from the developmental age groups
through U19's. He holds both a NSCAA National Diploma as well as a USSF
National License. In addition, Jim has coached four East Hudson League Champions
(2 boys/2 girls) and his teams have also been awarded several
Sportsmanship Awards. In 2005, he was honored by East
Hudson as the Boys Travel
Coach of the Year and in 2009 elected to the East Hudson Hall of Fame.
Coach Jim's soccer philosophy is centered on being a teacher to the young
player
so they may have the technical skills on which to build and develop. Jim’s
goals for his
players are dedication to the sport, establishing new friendships and
above all have
fun playing this wonderful game. Jim and his wife have had all four of their
children play in the EHYSL, with their youngest still playing in the
program.
BU11 -
Assistant Coach Adam Ritter
Adam Ritter enters his second year as part of the East Hudson
Academy coaching staff
after previously leading the BU-17 squad. He has also coached for three years
at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, and now two years at Arlington High School
where he has been part of two sectional championship programs.
A native of the Hudson
Valley and a product of
local youth programs, Coach Ritter’s playing days started with the LaGrange
Soccer Club, East Fishkill Soccer Club, and East Hudson Select teams where he
won numerous league championships and regional tournaments. A graduate of Arlington High School in 2000, he was a member of
the varsity boy’s soccer team for three years where he won league, sectional,
and state (1999) titles. He would continue at the Division 1 level where he had
the opportunity to play for Marist
College’s first Men
Soccer MAAC Conference Championship team and experienced the NCAA Tournament
first hand. Coach Ritter would later graduate from Marist in 2004 with a
Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Dean’s List Honors, and being named to the
All-MAAC Academic Team.
Coach Ritter’s philosophy about the game of soccer isn’t
about being the biggest, fastest, or strongest player on the ball. It’s (more)
about understanding how to communicate, move, and anticipate play off the ball
(after all there is only one ball for
22 players to share at any given moment in the game).
In addition to his soccer background, Coach Ritter has
extensive experience working in higher education, which allows him to be
knowledgeable about the college selection and recruiting processes.
Coach Ritter currently holds the USSF National D Coaching License.

– Coach Jeff Naso
Jeff Naso has played and coached
soccer in the Hudson
Valley his entire
life. He is originally from Highland, where he began
playing in their youth program. He was the starting varsity goalkeeper for 3
years at Highland
High School, winning the
State Championship in his senior year. Jeff was a member of the Eastern New
York ODP team in 1986 and also played in the 1987 Empire State Games for the
Gold Medal winning Hudson Valley Scholastic Team. He graduated from SUNY
Oswego, where he was a 3-year starter and received 1st Team All
SUNYAC Honors in 1990. He has been teaching Technology in Carmel for the past 17 years.
Jeff began his coaching career
during his first year of teaching as the Head Coach of the Carmel boys’ JV team. He then moved on to coach the boys’ Varsity
team for 11 years. During that time, he
also coached a travel team for Carmel United and ran several clinics for their
club. Presently, Jeff is the Head Coach
of the East Fishkill Soccer Club where he runs training sessions for both
coaches and players. Jeff enjoys
coaching two of his own children and he is looking forward to coaching his
third child when he is old enough to play.
Coach Naso holds a NSCAA National
License, an NSCAA Advanced National License and a USSF “D” License. He is excited to join the East Hudson
Academy coaching staff
this year.
GU12
– Assistant Coach Cori Witkiewicz
Cori
Witkiewicz was a four year letter winner and a captain for Our Lady of Lourdes
High School, earning All League Honors in '99, '00, and '02. In 2002, she earned All Section honors,
League MVP, and the school’s first sectional title. During her collegiate career at SUNY Potsdam,
Cori was a four year starter and a captain both her junior and senior year,
earning SUNYAC All-Conference 2nd Team recognition. After graduating, Cori went on to become the
Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at the school during the 2007 season. Cori received her USSF National “D” License
and trains teams in the local area, along with coaching at the Bard College
Summer Soccer Camp and the Hudson
Valley Soccer
School. Coach Cori also teaches mathematics at Our
Lady of Lourdes
HS, where she is the Girl’s JV Soccer Coach.
This is her second year coaching for the East Hudson
Academy.
BU12
- Coach Dan Carillo
Dan Carillo is in his 3rd year on the East Hudson
Academy coaching staff.
He is the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Nyack College,
an NCAA Division 2 institution, and has held this position since 2004. Prior to this appointment, Carillo was an
Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Nyack
College for six
years. He coached the boys’ varsity high
school soccer team at Chapel
Field High
School for two years. Dan has been associated
with a number of youth and travel teams of all ages from a variety of clubs
including Monroe United SC, Washingtonville SC, Ramapo Valley SC, Pine Bush
Colts and Town of Wallkill SC. He has
been a staff member for a number of summer camp programs and is currently the
Director of the Nyack College Soccer Camp.
Coach Carillo holds an NSCAA National Diploma and a USSF D license.
BU12 –Coach Joe Carillo
Coach
Carillo, a native New Yorker, has been coaching youth soccer since 1983. He
currently holds a USSF "C" license. Joe has been an ODP coach from
2003 to the present. He has coached in the EHYSL Academy
for the past three years, and has been the Head Coach at Pine Bush H.S. since
1992. Joe is also the Director of Coaching for the Town of Wallkill S.C. Joe is the proud grandfather of three
granddaughters currently playing in the East Hudson
Academy program.
GU13 –Coach Erika Van Zandt
Erika Van Zandt currently
serves as the men's and women's goalkeeper coach at Bard College. Coach
Van Zandt previously was an assistant coach for the women's soccer team at Rennselaer Polytechnic
Institute for three seasons and prior to that the assistant women's coach at Marist College.
She has coached with the ENY State ODP program, as well as the CDYSL League ODP
program. Van Zandt played collegiately at UAlbany. Upon graduation
she ranked 1st on the all-time career save percentage list and 2nd on the
all-time career saves list. She is a five year participant in the Empire
State Games winning three gold and two silver medals as the starting goalkeeper
for the Adirondack Region.
She is head coach for the Albany Alleycats U13
girl's team and is also an assistant coach for the girl's U16 team, as well as
Director of Goalkeeping for the Alleycats girl's
program. Coach Van Zandt holds a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
She is in her first year coaching with the East Hudson
Academy.
GU13- Assistant Coach
Anna Case
Anna is a graduate of Marist College
where she received her BA in Mathematics/Secondary Education. While there, she
competed for the varsity soccer program all four years. While an undergraduate,
she received her USSF “D” National license, followed by her NSCAA State
and Regional Goalkeeping licenses. Upon graduation, she has been working as an
assistant coach at SUNY Plattsburgh for the Women’s Soccer Program. She is also
currently working with a local high school’s Varsity Girl’s Program, as well as
head coach of the Under 10 Plattsburgh FC girls premiere team. This is Anna’s first season with the East Hudson
Academy.
BU13- Coach Carmine
DAgostino
Coach Carmine has been with the East Hudson Academy Program
and the State ODP Program as a goalkeeper coach and team coach. Along with
being a co-coach, Carmine will continue to serve as the Goalkeeper coach for
the entire program. Carmine has a “C” license and has attended many regional
coaches clinics over the past four years. Carmine has coached and trained
players and teams of all ages and levels for many years in EHYSL. Carmine had
also served as the Head Coach for the Cortlandt Soccer Club for many years.
Carmine presently is the Training Coordinator for the Town of Cortlandt Soccer Club. Carmine is also the
goalkeeper coach for the U-17 White Plains Elite Soccer team as well as the
U-14 Rye Celtics which are both very successful premier teams in the area. Carmine himself played soccer professionally
in the NASL, ASL and GASL during the mid 70’s.
BU13 - Coach
Rob Parker
Rob Parker enters his first season with the East Hudson
Academy.
Parker has coached at the collegiate level for twelve years
and is currently an Assistant at Union College,
and has also worked with the women's teams of Siena, UAlbany and Towson. Under his tutelage at Siena,
his goalkeeper was selected to the MAAC all-rookie team in 2005.
Additionally, Saint keepers twice earned MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year
honors.
Parker serves as Director of Goalkeeping with NY Elite
FC. He also coaches a U-16 Girls team with NY Elite FC
and works with several other soccer clubs in the community. Parker
also coached the Adirondack Region women's squad at the Empire State Games
for six years, guiding his team to four golds, one silver and
one bronze in the open division.
A member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America, the United States Soccer Coaches Association and the National Goalie
Wars Association, Parker holds a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma, a NSCAA
Advanced Regional Diploma and a USSF National "D" Coaching License as
well as several Learning Diplomas from the English FA.
He also served as a member of the Eastern New York
Olympic Development Program staff and is a contributor to keeperstop.com,
writing articles on goalkeeper development. He has served as a clinician
for several coaching clinics and courses.
GU14/15 –Coach
Robert Seipp
Coach Seipp earned a USSF 'A' License and an NSCAA Advanced
National Diploma. He has coached in the State Olympic Development Program
(ODP) on Long Island and in the Eastern
Upstate Program. Coach Seipp was the Women’s Open Empire State Coach
for five years at the Empire State Games, and a Division 1 College Head Coach
at Iona for two years (’94, ’95).
He also coached the East Fishkill Strikers to back - to - back State Cup
Titles in ’96 and ’97. Coach
Seipp is currently the coach of the John Jay High School Boys’ Varsity
team. Rob enjoys coaching at the high school where he played soccer. John Jay won the Class ‘A’ State Title in
2000 and six Sectional Titles under him. Rob and his wife are the
parents of two young sons who eagerly await their turn to play soccer!
GU14/15
- Assistant Coach Christopher Calimano
Coach Calimano began coaching 11 years ago as the JV girls’
coach for Roy C. Ketcham High School. During this time, he has also served as the
boys’ JV coach and as an assistance coach for the boys’ varsity team. Currently, he is the head coach of the girls’
varsity program at Roy C. Ketcham.
Coach Calimano holds NSCAA certificates in Flank Play, Formations and
Small Sided Games, as well as a NYS Coaching certificate. In 2009, he earned
his National D License. Chris is
beginning his 2nd year with the East Hudson
Academy.
Soccer is positive activity that teaches participants about
courage, communication and focus. As a
youth coach, Chris strives to create a learning environment that is both fun
and rewarding.
BU14
— Coach Gary Montalto
Gary
is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and Western Connecticut State College. He has
been coaching and training soccer players, both boys and girls for the past 36
years. His longest tenure has been with
the Arlington High School Boys Varsity team in which he has accumulated over
500 victories and directed 5 separate teams to the New York State Finals, of
which 3 of those teams won the State Championship. In 2006, Gary was selected as the National Boys High
School Coach of the Year by the NSCAA.
Some of the other soccer positions held by Coach Montalto
have been the Arlington High School Varsity Girls Coach for 11 years, State
Boys ODP Coach for 4 years, East
Hudson Academy
for 3 years and Travel Coach for various time periods with the LaGrange Soccer
Club and the Town of Poughkeepsie
Soccer Club. Gary
holds a USSF “C” license and a National Diploma from the NSCAA. He has also
been a clinician at numerous soccer events. Coach Mont’s
positive approach to his players and the game has been a life lesson to many.
BU14
– Coach Kieran McIlvenny
Kieran, a native of Ireland, has been coaching and
playing soccer in the United
States since 1986. From 1992-2005 he
was the Director of Soccer Operations for Rye Youth Soccer, and from 1995-1998
he was the Boys Varsity Soccer Coach At Rye
Country Day School. He joined the East Hudson
coaching staff in 2002 as a Head Coach and has remained in that role since
then. In 2004, he was invited to be a staff member of the State ODP Program and
remained in that program until 2007 when Gary Montalto, Arlington Boys Varsity
Coach, and Kieran formed the New York Soccer
Academy. Kieran has
played competitive soccer for most of his life, and holds both a USSF
"B" license and the KNVB( Dutch Soccer Federation) Advanced Diploma.
He is currently the Girls Varsity Coach at Arlington HS, leading the girls to a
sharing of the Section 1 title in 2008.
With his calm sideline demeanor, Coach Kieran believes that
sportsmanship is one of the most important aspects of the game. The McIlvennys
have three children, two of whom play in the EHYSL.
BU15
–Coach Rob Caudy
Coach Rob has been around the Hudson Valley
for nearly all of his life. He started
playing soccer at six years old, and played up through High School for Washingtonville High School and the Washingtonville
Soccer Club, under the wise supervision of Hall of Fame Soccer Coach Tony
Martelli. Coach Rob has coached soccer
in several capacities from High School (John S. Burke Girls Varsity) to college
(Columbia University and Mount Saint Mary). In addition, he has directed coaching in
several area clubs and coached many teams in the top tournaments in the
country, such as Jefferson Cup, PDA, Bethesda,
Disney, and more.
Coach Rob’s
undergraduate work was completed at Columbia
University in New York. He returned to Columbia in 2009 to pursue graduate studies
at the Film School.
Coach Rob has both a National USSF License and National and Advanced
National Diploma’s from the NSCAA. He is
also an NSCAA Associate Staff Coach and former Super Y League ODP scout.
BU16
– Coach Helmut Gspurning
A native of Austria,
Helmut has been involved with soccer his entire life. He has played for
Blau-Weiss Gottschee Club, NY where he was captain during his senior year and
helped lead the team to the New York State Championship finals. He also was his High School’s team captain
for four years, and helped the team win two State Championships. Helmut went on to play soccer in College at
Ulster CC for George Vizvary. Since then, Helmut has coached and trained boys
and girls teams ranging from ages 5-19.
Currently, he is a 3rd year East
Hudson Academy
coach. Helmut just finished a very
successful first year as Kennedy Catholic High School Girls Varsity soccer
coach. Coach Helmut
presently holds a USSF National D license and a NSCAA National Diploma. He and
his wife have two daughters who have played for the East Hudson
Academy.
BU16
–Coach Sean Murphy
This is Sean Murphy’s 2nd season as a coach with the
Academy. He has a NSCAA State,
Regional, and National Diploma. He is
also a member of the MHSOA. Sean has
trained teams of various ages and both genders for several club programs. He has worked with the Poughkeepsie Soccer
Club, Lagrange Soccer Club, F.C. Westchester, and Middlepath F.C. Sean is graduate of John Jay High School, Marist College,
and Western Connecticut University.
BU17 - Coach Adriano Torriani
Adriano is a native of Montevideo, Uruguay,
where he played soccer his whole life until moving to the USA. He
currently plays in men’s leagues in the East Hudson
area. He has been training many
different teams in Rye,
East Fishkill, LaGrange and Yorktown, NY
for the past 8 years. He also works for camps and clinics in the area. Adriano has been the head coach for Boys
Select/ODP for 14, 15 and 16 year olds since 2003 in Westchester
and 2004 in East Hudson. Coach Adriano holds a
USSF “D”state license, NSCAA National Diploma, Dutch National Coaching Diploma
and Advanced Diploma., Coach Adriano’s youthful approach to the game captures
the attention of his players, with mutual respect being shared. He and his wife
are raising two young daughters, with his oldest about ready to begin her team
soccer playing years!
BU17 – Assistant Coach Aidan Topley
Coach Aidan is originally from Ashford, Kent,
England. He moved to the U.S.A as a Professional, full
time soccer trainer in New Jersey, working for United Soccer Academy from
2003-2006. In 2005 he moved to Dutchess
County. Currently he
holds a U.E.F.A B pt 1 license and U.S.S.F ‘F’ License.
Playing soccer since the age of
6, Aidan played for his high school, winning a County Championship Cup in 1999
and 2 division titles in 1997, 2001, and was also the top goal scorer 2 seasons
in a row, 2000/2001-2001/2002. In addition, he played for many amateur men’s
teams in the ‘Kent
county and District league’, winning 2 championships with the Wye Wanderers
F.C, and 1 league cup. Also in 2004 he made his first appearance for his local
semi-pro club, the Ashford Town Football Club Reserves team, who played in the
‘Go Travel Kent League – 2nd Div’, only playing several times before
he returned to the states to continue his coaching education and school
opportunities.
Coach Aidan has been coaching
soccer for 9 years. Before moving to the US, he was the assistant manager of
Ashford Town U-18’s soccer team. He would lead the training sessions and warm
ups prior to games, helping in the team selection, and advising the head coach
on game day.
Aidan now coaches local teams in
Lagrange, Hyde Park, Wappingers Falls,
and even Northern New Jersey. At present, he
is a full time student at Russell
Sage College,
on his way to becoming a Physical Education teacher. Coach Aidan and his wife reside in Hyde Park.
